The Paragons

In 2703AR, Sir Ysgar Of The White Field, in the height of the crusade, brought together the eight heroes who had either acquired artifacts of power, or achieved great power by other means.
Together they sat in a small shoddy tavern, and gazed upon each other for the first time.
And ever since that night, there have always been Paragons.

It has been over 2000 years since that night, and there have been over a hundred Paragons to sit in the ten thrones in the Hall Of Heroes, on the topmost level of the Sphere.
Each of the Seven Towers on the border of the Wastes, are named for the seven of the first Paragons to perish in the crusade, with the great throne in the Hall named for the one to survive.

To become a Paragon, requires one of the current Paragons to either perish, or retire (which is almost unheard of). When the news of a Paragons death is released, it begins almost a frenzy amongst the Lodgers.
The competition begins, for the replacement is chosen by the remaining Paragons from the 15,000 Lodgers all around the world. They will pick the one with the most power, the most glory, and the greatest legend to join them in the hall.

And that is how it's always been, since Joran Flashfire, the only Paragon to survive the Crusade, handpicked nine veterans to help him build the Hall Of Heroes

At least, it was, until the destruction of the Sphere and the Hall Of Heroes, and all but three Paragons were slain.

The most recent Paragons were:

Kylar Goroesi (Human, Age: 28):
The  leader of the Paragons, and considered by many to be a successor to Ysgar himself, Kylar had led the Paragons for 8 years.
A member of Lodge #13, he was a lodger for only a year before proving himself worthy, retrieving a mighty trident from the southernmost point of the Wastes.
That trident remained where he placed it, piercing the ground outside the Hall Of Heroes, as a challenge.
STATUS: DECEASED, PERISHED AT THE SPHERES DESTRUCTION

Blackfang (Human, Age: 25):
A shy and reclusive man, Blackfang was a relative unknown when he was chosen as a Paragon. And ever since, he avoided all social occasions, almost never leaving the Hall Of Heroes.
A powerful summoner, his eidolon was often sighted soaring in the skies above the city, acting as his eyes and ears.
STATUS: DECEASED, PERISHED AT THE SPHERES DESTRUCTION

Chrysalis (Half-Elf, Age: 32):
A lodger for 5 years before she was chosen, Chrysalis developed a massive reputation as both a genius and a nuisance. With her renowned agility and penchant for illusions, she was known for being able to find her way into any location.
Often handling the socializing and interaction with the Lodgers, she was known for being very welcoming and supportive of all those who come to the Hall for help or advice.
But people shouldn't be fooled. Her daggers, once drawn, never end the day clean.
She was also a keen ally of the party, and a protective friend.

Chrysalis has grown rather close to the party, and rather fond of them, particularly Eleanor and Boris. She has willingly assisted the party in their various goals and missions, and has also allowed them slightly into her personal life, being open about her past and her alliance with the Order Of The New Dawn.
She has taken Eleanor as her student.
STATUS: DECEASED, SHOT BY AERON ON THE ROAD NORTH

Sybil – (Human, Age: 31) DECEASED:
Considered by many the greatest swordsman in the realm, Sybil stands as a shining knight on Ursa Tower. A hundred hordes of monsters from the Wastes have assaulted the tower while under her watch, and a hundred have been repelled.
Known to be a stern and sensible woman, she hasn't left Ursa tower since she was assigned to it.
Died in battle with Screamers, in the fall of Ursa tower, which now stands abandoned.
STATUS: DECEASED, KILLED BY SCREAMERS PRIOR TO THE CAMPAIGN

Karak (Human, Age: 27):
Some consider him a brute, others consider him a legend. Karak mans Ysgar Tower with an iron fist and unwavering discipline. The tower that suffers the heaviest fighting must always be manned by the Paragon best suited, and any of the very few who disagree with Karaks capability would never say it to his face.
A towering beast in his black armor, rumors say that during the fighting the thunders of his warhammer can be heard from the other towers.
STATUS: DECEASED, PERISHED AT THE SPHERES DESTRUCTION

Clint Glintwit (Human, Age: 23):
Aloof and reckless, it's generally accepted that Clint was assigned to the far-away Lucille Tower just to stop him causing trouble elsewhere.
Despite his reputation, his skill with his bow is undeniable. He once boasted at being able to stick an arrow in the Hall door from his tower, but no-body believed him.
What they can't refute though, is that the ground surrounding his tower is clear and green, as no evil ever gets close enough to corrupt the ground.
Was the most recent Paragon to be chosen, being Chosen 2 years ago
STATUS: DECEASED, PERISHED AT THE SPHERES DESTRUCTION

Bafdor (Human, Age: 34):
A gentle and kind man, Bafdors violin can be heard from all the rooms in Dodge Tower. The most mature, and wizened, of the current Paragons, Bafdors time on the border has not hardened his disposition in the slightest.
A talented enchanter and craftsman, Dodge tower is manned with as many constructs as there are Guardians.
STATUS: POSSESSED BY THE 'PERFECT', CURRENTLY IN THE NORTH

Lucille (Human, 30):
Lucille and her Wasp Legion, stationed at Tacita Tower, are legend. By far the most numerous of the towers, Lucille requires all her Guardians to be trained in horsemanship, so that they can participate in the great rides south to scout the Wastes.
An energetic and relentlessly enthusiastic woman, Lucille and her great warhorse Martyr are yet another example of the glory of Lodge #1
Lucille has also accepted a request from Boris, to train him more in combat.
STATUS: ALIVE, CURRENTLY IN THE CENTRE

Hican (Dwarf, Age: 60):
Gazing at Hican, it would be easy to underestimate him.
He carries no weapons, wears no armor, and keeps no guards. His smile is infectious and welcoming, and his cups of homegrown tea at Zara Tower are famous.
And although he's never carried a weapon in his life, and when he trains with his men they use steel blades, there is not a single scar on his body.
And that says all it needs to.
STATUS: DECEASED, PERISHED AT THE SPHERES DESTRUCTION

Timaeous (Human, Age: 27):
The only worthy Paragon to man the arcane Boral Tower, Timaeous is the only pure mage to be chosen as a Paragon in decades. Graduating from all seven magical schools in the north by 19, Timaeous travelled South to join the Lodgers.
Two years later he was chosen as a Paragon.
Despised for his arrogance and respected for his power, Timaeous is the outsider of the Paragons. While no Lodger wishes to be the next Timeous, all respect him anyway.
